Wadsworth Park Skating Rink

Wadsworth Park Skating Rink

Due to unseasonably mild weather, we will not be able to construct an outdoor rink at Wadsworth Park in the 2022-2023 season.

Unfortunately we have already lost half of our rink season due to the mild weather and it is uncertain how cold the weather will be in February & March.

Should the forecast change we are open to reconsidering this decision. Otherwise we look forward to the 2023-2024 season.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and encourage families to use the free outdoor city rinks at Earlscourt Park which are currently operational.

Since 2020, this rink has been made possible by the efforts and financial contribution of the Mia Macdonald Real Estate team. Special thanks to the volunteers and community members that run it! We are so glad that it can benefit this community that we love so much.

For more information, please contact Corrigan Hammond at corriganhammond@gmail.com or 437.772.7831.

Skate Lending Library:

Our annual skate lending library will operate as of January 2023.

  • A community location where skates will be leant from along with library times and hours will be posted once the rink opens.
  • Anyone wishing to borrow skates outside of the library hours of operation can email corriganhammond@gmail.com to make arrangements.
  • See below for an approximate list of sizes (not all skates have proper sizing information, so everything is an estimate)
  • Additionally, we have three helmets and a variety of stands to help first time skaters learn to skate.

This year we are working with community partners at The Stop & Davenport Perth Community Ministry to make this program more inclusive. Most Saturday mornings this winter volunteers will be available at the Wadsworth Rink to offer coaching and lessons.

To donate skates to our library or to learn about reserving a pair please contact Corrigan Hammond at corriganhammond@gmail.com or 437.772.7831.

Volunteers Needed:

Our rink is 100% volunteer powered. We’d love your help to keep this awesome FREE activity running. Our crew is friendly and welcoming and can’t wait to meet you.

To volunteer on the rink or for more information, please contact Corrigan Hammond at corriganhammond@gmail.com or 437.772.7831.

Some of the things we need help with include: Daily Snow Removal; Flooding (you get to use a firehose); Teaching Beginners How To Skate; Rink Construction (December/January) & Removal (March/April).

How Our Rink Works

Our rink is a natural ice surface which means we are completely weather dependent. As a result, we typically close whenever the temperature is above 0C for more than 3-hours or whenever it rains.

City-run rinks, including Earlscourt Park (two stops west of us on the St. Claire Streetcar) have refrigeration lines and are able to run in mild weather. If we’re closed, we strongly encourage you to try their awesome pad.

Our rink is small which makes it best suited to families, beginners and leisure skaters. Outdoor hockey is available at the nearby city-run Earlscourt Park Rink.

Rink Rules

All Welcome!

Helmets Strongly Encouraged

No pets on the rink please.

Rink closed nightly from 9pm for maintenance.

Please obey all City of Toronto bylaws while using our rink
